ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) has since 1916 qualified vendors to certify that products and services conform to ASME specifications and standards, and only qualified suppliers can use Code Symbol poles in their products through production testing.

The certification system distinguishes between nuclear power and non-nuclear power.
It requires product certification (various stamping and data report) through Authorized Inspection System (Authorized) and requires system certification through Join Review of ASME.
